Elk of the Month!

Elk of the Month february HeaderThere is absolutely no shortage of members that are being considered as Elk of the Month.  This month has been particularly hard to designate who is the Elk of the month with all the amazing things that are happening around the lodge.  The Kitchen is getting completely stripped out and cleaned, our Grant applications are getting written and awarded, our Budget committee is buckling down and meeting weekly, our Vocational Scholarship group is ready for their applications, our MVS Scholarship group is meeting and developing plans, our Scouting leaders are starting their new year, our Veterans Chair is getting things done – and more.

Traci Williams 2So it’s with great pride that I get to recognize the efforts of one of our members who has not only stepped up to chair a committee at our lodge, a big thing in itself, but is using her enthusiasm and energy to make her position, what her committee can do, bigger and better than it could ever be without her.  Traci Williams you are one in a million and your lodge thanks you for not only stepping up and taking on the role of our Veterans Committee Chair but you’ve used your enthusiasm and connections to share the Elks and the Ballard Elks out there in the community and our State.

Traci has gone above and beyond with her recent work through our veterans committee.  Take a read on our website news (Our Lodge Made a Difference) or the article in the March Newsletter about the donation our lodge helped create for an officer’s family in need.  It is directly because of Traci’s can do attitude our lodge was able to make a difference.

Leading by example and deserving of respect and thanks from myself and our members I am honored to recognize the efforts and involvement of our member, Traci Williams, by designating her as Elk of the Month. Traci- your enthusiastic efforts and your recent committee work are well deserving of our thanks and this award.  Thank you for what you have done for the lodge and what you will continue to do for the lodge and our community.

We do what we do as Elks not for recognition or personal gain but for the greater and nobler good of the lodge and the community we live in. I know that these members didn’t step up and volunteer to be rewarded for their efforts but never the less we will thank these members and by doing so can develop a pool of eligible recipients for the coveted Elk of the Year Award given each year to the member who is always willing to help, the member our lodge can rely upon to step up and get things done.

Award recipients not only get this article, they receive a $12 gift certificate to our social quarters, an Elk of the Month certificate to pin on their wall and are in the running for Elk of the Year, awarded at the 2018/19 Officer Installation Dinner. You can find the nomination form on our website (ballardelks.org), fill it out as best you can and get it to our Exalted Ruler before the 19th of each month – exaltedruler@ballardelks.org

Congratulations and thank you Traci – keep up the great work and excellent can do example for our members!
