Elk of the Month!

The short days are upon us and with our early darkness comes some amazingly fun night time gatherings and events, one of which was recently organized and motivated by a particular member that our lodge Past Exalted Ruler Association and our Ballard Elks members would like to recognize.  He is an Elk that is time and again organizing something fun for our members that raises some serious dough for our lodge charities.

This member, initiated in April of 2002, is someone that exemplifies the can do attitude we all aspire to.  He quickly became involved with our lodge after initiation and joined our officer corps, eventually serving as our Exalted Ruler and being elected by our membership to Honorary Life Membership status in 2012 for his achievements and dedication to our lodge and order.  Now years later he continues to stay involved with our lodge and consistently puts on wonderful events throughout the year that give our members volunteer opportunities, fun times with great food and tops it all off with amazing amounts of donations for our charities.

He has proved pivotal to the success of events like our Salmon Dinner and Anti-Bullying plays and was recently seen spending countless hours preparing things for our annual Saints and Sinners Ball with all the other amazing event volunteers.  Not only did this event create fun for hundreds of members it brought in over $9,500.00 for lodge charities.  Supporting our Building Fund, Children’s Hospital, WSEA Therapy Program, Elks National Foundation, Christmas Baskets, Lodge Thanksgiving Dinner, Family Friday Night’s, Boy & Girl Scouts, MVS Scholarships, Youth Activities & our PER Association.  AMAZING!

Grims Gislason – Thank you!  You’ve gone above and beyond to help our lodge succeed for years and years.  Your support of Elkdom through proposing members, being active and motivational around our lodge and even your time in a state committee chair position sets the example of what it means to dedicate your time and energy to help build the social capital in our lodge and Elkdom we all benefit from.  Your efforts are helping build the fun and friendship in Ballard and is encouraging those around you, both new and long time members, to recognize what great opportunities we have and how they can do more for our lodge and our community.  Well done and thank you from the Past Exalted Ruler Association and your fellow Elks at the Ballard Elks lodge 827.  It’s these types of actions that leave a lasting impression and prove a good deed honestly and properly performed lasts forever.
