From Your Exalted Ruler, Cindy Olsby

Hello members!
I hope this email finds you safe and healthy and enduring this latest round of COVID requirements.  I have some good news – the Lodge hours will be going back to our regular closing hours effective February 1st.  And all of your favorite lodge activities will be back in February as well – Wine Club, Bingo, Trivia and more!  See below for all the exciting things happening in your lodge in February, a sneak peak for a March event and a special request from the Grant Committee.  Officer elections are in February too – so read below if you are interested in being an Officer!  I hope to see you at the Lodge soon.

Fraternally yours, Cindy

COVID REGULATIONS REMINDER
Anyone entering the Lodge is required to show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test result.  Membership cards are being stamped to indicate that you’ve shown proof of vaccination so that you only need to show your card with that stamp when you enter the Lodge in the future.

We also have limited the number of tables in the social quarters, and the number of chairs at each table, so please do not move furniture.

Please help to keep all members safe, wear masks and practice social distancing!  We’ll get through this!

Please see the February Antlers for the proposed changes which will be voted on at the March 8th Lodge meeting (7:30 PM meeting start time).

Do you have an idea for a Lodge fundraiser?  Then let’s make it happen!

Most Lodge activities started as the brainchild of a member who got involved and made it happen!  Proceeds from activities support our Lodge funds – the operating fund, the building fund, etc.  Without these special events we cannot survive!

If you have an idea for a fundraiser, email your Exalted Ruler and she’ll help you to make it happen!

Grant Committee Needs Shopping Volunteers!

Do you like to shop?  What if you could shop, not spend a dime of your own money, earn volunteer hours, and give back to the community?  It’s a win, win!
Our lodge uses the ENF Focus grant and the ENF Welcome Home Kit program to buy supplies for veterans moving from homelessness to a sober, safe space apartment.  These kits can include many basics for move in such as dishes, coffee makers, pots and pans, sheets, pillows, towels, personal care supplies, cleaning supplies, folding chairs/tables, etc.  The grant committee is in need of volunteers to fill the shopping requests and deliver the items to the VA social workers.  We receive up to 2-3 requests each week and are looking to build a fantastic shopping team.  If you are interested, please contact Betsy McElroy (betsymc2@gmail.com) and Marty Paulson (martypaulson1@gmail.com) for more information.

The grant committee is also looking for space to store these supplies.  If we have space we can take advantage of sales and special deals to stock up on high demand items, enabling us to stretch our dollars and serve more vets!  If you have extra dry garage or warehouse space or any storage options to help us to increase our contributions to our community please contact Betsy McElroy (betsymc2@gmail.com) for more details.

NOMINATION, ELECTION, AND INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS

The elective Officers of this Lodge shall be an Exalted Ruler, an Esteemed Leading
Knight, an Esteemed Loyal Knight, an Esteemed Lecturing Knight, a Secretary, a Treasurer, and five Trustees.  See the By-Laws (available at www.ballardelks.org website) for full descriptions of each position.

Nominations for new officers will take place at the February 8th meeting.  If a position did not receive a nomination at that meeting then nominations can take place at the February 22nd meeting.

Elections will take place at the February 22nd meeting.
