Support the Ballard Elks and Our Charities

Please Donate

The Elks organization spends more than $80,000,000 every year for benevolent, educational and patriotic community-minded programs in such fields as benefitting special needs children, sponsoring Elks National Foundation scholarships, scouting, athletic teams, veterans’ works, a national “Hoop Shoot” free-throw contest involving more than 3 million children, physical and occupational therapy programs and patriotic programs.

Locally, the Ballard Elks lodge donates to Seattle Children’s Hospital, the Ballard Food Bank, the Ballard Senior Center and several programs including the Christmas Basket Fund, local Vocational Scholarships, and our Veterans Committee Fund.  We also raise money to support our lodge itself, by donating to the Building Fund, the Property Tax Fund and other lodge improvements.

   ENF – Elks National Foundation

The Elks National Foundation (ENF) is a charitable organization that supports the Elks’ mission to build stronger, local communities through various programs and initiatives.  We fulfill this pledge by investing in communities where Elks live and work. We help youth develop lifelong skills, send students to college, meet the needs of today’s veterans, support the charitable work of the state Elks associations, and fund projects that improve the quality of life in local Elks communities.

Tall Elks Therapy Program

The Washington State Elks Association (also known as “Tall Elks”) has been a vital part of the healthcare community since 1954, providing home-based occupational or physical therapy to children with developmental delays or physical disabilities.  The program is integral to the community, with a caseload averaging 25 children per unit, each consisting of a licensed therapist, transportation, and equipment.

The program is funded by annual membership dues, investment income, and voluntary contributions.  It is open to any child in Washington State with an occupational or physical therapy prescription, but only those most critically in need can be accepted.

The programs focus is on providing critical one-on-one pediatric therapy for children most in need, ensuring that no child is turned away for treatment due to lack of funds.

Most Valuable Student (MVS) Scholarship Fund

Ranging from $1,000 per year to $7,500 per year, MVS scholarships are for students pursuing a four-year degree, on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 semester hours), in a U.S. college or university. All scholarships are in the form of certificates of award conditional upon the full-time enrollment of the winner in an accredited U.S. college or university.  The Elks National Foundation will award 500 MVS scholarships around the country.  Your donation helps us to fulfill our share of the funds needed for this scholarship.  Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need.

Seattle Children’s Hospital

Your gift to Seattle Children’s helps families focus on what matters most — helping their child live the healthiest life possible.

This isn’t about beating the odds. This is about changing them.  Seattle Children’s Hospital fights relentlessly to make sure there’s no such thing as “out of options” and to make sure kids who “didn’t have a chance” can have the childhoods they deserve. At Seattle Children’s, they are united by a compelling mission: Providing hope, care and cures to help every child live the healthiest and most fulfilling life possible.

Together, they deliver superior patient care, advance new discoveries and treatments through pediatric research and serve as the pediatric and adolescent academic medical center for Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho – the largest region of any children’s hospital in the country.

Building Fund

The Ballard Elks Lodge 827 Building Fund was setup to help offset the costs of maintaining our facility.  Regular maintenance of the roof, parking lot, elevators and more are    big ticket items that need constant attention.  Every donation helps us to keep our doors open for our members and events!

Property Tax Fund

Help us support our lodge by contributing to the Property Tax Fund. As Ben Franklin said, “nothing is certain but death and taxes” — and we have to pay ours every year!        This waterfront property costs (but is worth every penny!).  Your contribution will help us to pay those taxes this year.
